As explained on other pages, a switch is not a switch and every time, a
vendor advertises a "wire speed" switch, you should pay special attention. Most
vendors do not tell the truth on their full colour images and brushures.
To switch 48 ports in true wirespeed, you need round about 200 watts of main power.
This requires at leas on noisy fan, better two or more. |

| We did make some tests with a new tool, called netio from german c´t
magazine. With this test you can stress your network connetion over IP with different
payload, means different block sizes. The tool is talking from your station to a server,
requesting as much load as possible. With a power switch, you should get 11.3 kilobyte per
second on every port running 24 stations across to 24 servers.
here is a reference to our German page
http://www.useddlt.de/dlt-software/rommel-netzwerk-tool.htm
and here is the link for download
http://www.heise.de/bin/ct/shareware/click.pl?click=2155
I think, you need some German knowledge to understand the download pages. |
